Obverse: First laureate and draped bust right, rose below, legend and toothed border surrounding, CAROLVS . II. DEI. GRA.
Reverse: Crowned cruciform shields, interlinked pairs of Cs in angles, garter star at centre, date either side of top crown, .MAG. BR.FRA. ET.HIB. REX.
Edge inscribed in raised letters widely spaced between grained borders, .DECVS. ET. TVTAMEN*

A very pleasing dark tone, practically very fine, the reverse better, scarce in this grade.
40 mm in diameter, 30grams.
* In contrast to the thinly veiled threat of the previous administration, the edge lettering translates as: 'An ornament and a safeguard'
