Obverse: VII.:+:PHILIPPVS:II:D(E)I GR(…):+: Spanish shield of arms, T/ M in circle to right of shield.
A complete shield with clear bold mintmark, assayer’s letters and denomination, all within a crude beaded border, much legend clearly visible including the partial king’s name with clear ordinal II at 6 o’clock. Legend beginning and ending with + dating this coin to C.1590.
Reverse: +HISPANIA(R)VM . REX
Full cross with clear lions and castles, pellets evenly spaced around octolobe (two per quadrant), all within a crude beaded border, much legend visible with about half as full letters.
A very SCARCE beautifully toned example with nearly all of the pertinent design features one could ask for from this crudely manufactured series.
Has been graded and slabbed by NGC as AU 53
