Edward VI Gold Full Sovereign, 1547-53
Tower mint, London, mint mark Tun
Third period, 1550-1553, Second coinage minted from 5th October 1551, struck in Crown Gold of 22 carat, at a face value of Twenty Shillings
Obverse: Crowned armoured half-length figure of the young King facing right, holding orb and sceptre, linear and beaded circles surrounding (both sides) along with Latin legend: :EDWARD; VI: D; G; AGL; FRA; Z: h IBER; REX:
Reverse: Crowned quartered Royal shield of arms, crowned lion supporter to left, with dragon supporter to the right, ER on banner below, with Latin legend surrounding: .IhS; AVTEm. TRAnSIE; PER m EDI; ILLORV; IBAT.

37 mm in diameter, 11.1 grams.
Well struck on a large full flan, with residual lusture within the fully struck legends, a few tiny surface marks within the fields, otherwise very fine and better than usually encountered in this issue, a rare and desirable example from this very short reign.
