Scotland, James VIII (The Old Pretender) Pattern Silver Crown dated 1716
Struck c.1828 by dealer Matthew Young, from original dies engraved by Norbet Roettier
Obverse: Laureate and cuirassed bust facing right, with Latin legend and toothed border surrounding; IACOBVS. VIII. .DEI. GRATIA.
Reverse: Crowned square topped shield, date either side of crown, with Latin legend surrounding; SCOT.ANGL.FRAN.ET.HIB.REX.
Inverted die axis, edge plain.

Practically as struck, with a superb portrait of the 'would be king', very rare.
