Third coinage, Type 1, by The Scottish Mint Master Nicholas Briot (1637-42)
Obverse: Crowned and armoured half-length figure of the Kinf facing right, holding orb and sceptre, breaking inner beaded border, Latin legend with lozenge stops and outer beaded border surrounding on both sides: CAROLVS. D: G. MAG. BRITAN. FRAN. ET. HIB. REX., followed by thistle and .B. prone for Nicholas Briot
Reverse: Crowned quartered shield of arms dividing cypher, crowned C with lozenge below to left, crowned R with lozenge below to right, with Latin legend surrounding: HIS. PRÆSVM. VT. PROSIM. (with lozenge stops)

Extremely rare in this high grade.
