William and Mary 1689 Gold Guinea
Obverse: Conjoined laureate busts facing right, with Latin legend surrounding, GVLIELMVS. ET. MARIA. DEI. GRATIA
Reverse: Sixth crowned garnished quartered shield of arms, with pearls and four interior lines, square-topped Scottish frame, late Irish harp having six strings, with the Lion of Nassau as an escutcheon at centre, date 1689 either side of crown, with Latin legend surrounding: .MAG. BR. FR. ET. HIB. REX. ET. REGINA
Edge obliquely milled
8.39 grams, 26 mm in diameter.

Adjustment marks to William's cheek, otherwise very lustrous with vibrant flashy surfaces, a well-balanced central strike, seldom encountered on the early Guinea series, practically extremely fine and a rare variety.
