Celtic Coinage, Gold Stater, Belgae (c. 65-58 BC). 

‘Chute’ Type Stater 

Obverse: Wreath motif, crescents and cloak – stylised head of Apollo.

Reverse: Disjointed horse facing left, with rectangular head, body of crescents, four vertical stick legs, many pellets above, and crab below. 

S.22; ABC 746; VA 1205; BMC 35-76. 

6.1 grams, 16mm in diameter.
A pleasing well struck example, showing good balanced detail on both sides, with a pleasing deep golden tone.
