Obverse: Crowned Scottish arms, with Latin legend and beaded border surrounding: IACOBVS. 6. D. G. R. SCOTORVM
Reverse: Crowned thistle plant, with legend and beaded border surrounding, REGEM. IOVA. PROTEGIT. 1602 SCBI 58 (Edinburgh), 1571-82; Burns 3, fig.943; S.5497.
6.57 grams, 32 mm in diameter.
Attractively toned showing a good strike for the issue, struck on a large full round flan, good very fine – nearly extremely fine for the type.
